Each year, schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators during Book Week. Classroom teachers and librarians develop activities and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. At St Patrick’s we celebrate Book Week with our annual Book Week dress up day. On this day all students are encouraged to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character and invited class by class to present their character to the whole school at the morning assembly. In addition to the special assembly we will be hold a Book Fair with a large collection of children’s books for sale in the library. Everyone is welcome to come and browse through the fabulous collection of reading material that will be on offer.
