Prep
In 2002, the Queensland Government decided to trial a Preparatory Year of full-time schooling for children.

International research shows the benefits of full-time quality programs before children start Year 1. This research also shows that children who are older generally do better than their younger peers when they start formal schooling.

An Early Years Curriculum has been developed specifically for use in the Preparatory Year. Having been selected as a trial school for Prep in 2004, 2005 and 2006, our entire community was very excited about its involvement in this initiative and this experience will keep us in good stead for Prep in the future.

Our Prep Year classes for 2012 will comprise of groups of approximately 25 children whose 5th birthday falls between 1st July 2010 and 30th June 2012, inclusive.

A teacher and a full time teacher assistant staff our Prep classes. The teacher is responsible for the organisation, conduct and curriculum of the children attending Prep.

Standard Classes
To be enrolled in Year One a child must have turned five by the last day of December of the preceding year.

Enrolment of students is the responsibility of the Principal and is in line with Diocesan and School Enrolment Policies and Procedures.

All new enrolments must be accompanied by an immunisation record, a birth certificate, a baptismal certificate and copies of any other relevant sacramental certificates e.g. Baptism.

Parents are asked to accept that all students will partake fully of every aspect of the school program, except:

  1. When activities are voluntary.
  2. Medical reasons may exist for exemption from Physical Education and sports programs.
Non-Catholics are exempt from partaking of the Sacraments, but will be expected to participate fully in all Religious Education lessons.
